Residencies: Artists are provided with a clean, clear space (approx 40 sq.m) and a period of time in which to consider ideas, processes and practice. Please note – the garage is not a commercial or exhibition space.
We ask artists to include talks or events to connect with local artists and the public and to share the experience of working in the garage. Since the Coronavirus outbreak, residencies have continued with artists adapting to, and following, the current safety guidelines. This has led to greater use of remote events as a means to share work and processes.
If you are interested in a residency, please get in touch through the contact page or by e-mail, and include sights to see your work and an idea of how and why you’d like to use the space. We are looking for artists who want to explore, experiment, test ideas, collaborate away from their usual working environment. During the pandemic situation, artists are encouraged to demonstrate alternative ways of engaging with other artists and the public in order to share their experience of working in the space and to extend the process of encouraging conversation, connection and reflection. There is no specific charge for use of The Garage except a contribution to energy costs.
